What Dental Problems Should Not be Considered Dental Emergencies?

Sometimes dental emergencies are real emergencies, and sometimes, they are not that urgent and can wait a couple of days before you come in to get the problem solved. However, some people tend to think that when a tooth is chipped or cracked, they should go to the dentist for an emergency right away.

This is not the case at all. The following non-dental emergencies can wait a couple of days. Make an appointment with us instead, and we will be happy to help you.

Lost Filling, Crown, or Bridge of the Tooth

If you lost a filling in your cavity or a crown or bridge of your tooth, you don't need to panic, and you need not see us immediately. You can just make an appointment with us and come in after a couple of days. We can fix the problem when you come in, but until then, don't worry, everything will be alright.

Broken, Chipped, or Cracked Tooth

Unless you are in severe pain because of the broken, chipped, or cracked tooth, you don't have to worry about it. If you can get through your daily routine normally without having any significant pain, you will be fine until you see us in a few days. Just make an appointment with our office, and the dentist will help you when you come in.

Food Stuck in Between Your Teeth

If you get some food stuck in between your teeth, like broccoli or something, you can typically fix this yourself. You can solve this problem by swishing some warm water or warm salt water in your mouth for about 30 seconds, and this usually gets the food and gunk out of in between your teeth. You can also use a toothpick to get the food out, but swishing water around in your mouth seems to work better.

The dental problems above are non-emergencies so you will not need to see us right away, but you can still make an appointment with us for a couple of days to a few days later and we will help you when you come in.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (360) 447-6355 today.
