Faster Braces with Propel
Here at Pickens Family Dentistry we are passionate about providing our patients with high-quality treatment options that are time tested and proven to be both safe and effective. Propel accelerated orthodontics is a great example of a new technology that we have adopted because of the incredible value that it brings to our patients. Propel works to speed up the treatment time of orthodontic appliances significantly, and can help us to achieve more reliable results.
What is Propel?
Propel is an orthodontic treatment that we use to help speed up the orthodontic treatment process by making multiple micro-perforations in your jaw bone. These micro osteo-perforations stimulate the bone in the jaw, allowing the orthodontic treatment to occur in conjunction with higher blood flow to the area. This stimulation allows the treatment to finish in a much smaller time-frame than an orthodontic treatment without the Propel system.
Less Time With Metal Braces!
No one enjoys having to deal with orthodontic treatments for a number of reasons. Probably the top concern with most orthodontic treatments is how much time it takes; it’s true, most of the orthodontia involves a slow process of applying pressure and waiting. The desire to have a faster orthodontic treatment rises when faced with the prospect of having to deal with traditional metal braces. Metal braces are unsightly, and make life a little more difficult when eating and cleaning your teeth. With Propel, we can sometimes trim months off of your treatment time, making it a welcome treatment option.
Why Should I Use Propel?
Propel allows us to move your teeth faster and more accurately regardless of the orthodontic option we are using on your teeth. Whether you have traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners, or even a removable retainer, Propel will reduce your treatment time dramatically. Propel should be used when treatment time is a concern.
How Does Propel Work?
The Propel system is a painless treatment where we create small perforations in the bone of the jaw around the base of each tooth. We make two to three perforations at the base of each tooth, in the jaw bone. Depending on the case we may treat the patient just once with the Propel system, or we may choose to treat them several times, spacing out the treatments every six to eight months.
The best thing about Propel is how easy and minor the procedure is. As with all procedures, we start by ensuring your comfort, making sure to apply topical or local anesthetic where needed to ensure that you don’t feel a thing. We will check with your frequently to make sure that you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure.
